OCD Awareness Week

October 11–17 is OCD Awareness Week (#OCDWeek), a worldwide effort sponsored by the International Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Foundation, dedicated to increasing understanding of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), challenging common misconceptions, and connecting individuals and families with helpful resources and support. This years theme is “That’s OCD”, challenging common misconceptions about OCD and focusing on experiences that often go unrecognized or misunderstood. (www.iocdf.org)

OCD is a mental health disorder that can affect people of all ages and backgrounds. Despite how common it is, OCD is often misunderstood. Many people associate OCD simply with being very organized, clean, or particular. In reality, OCD is much more complex—and its symptoms can look very different from one person to another.
